Born in New York City, Michael A.J. Randolph serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication at Eastern Kentucky University after a long career in broadcasting and education. MAJR has a passion for looking a new ways to push the envelope with technology and to encourage students to do the same in telling great stories across different media platforms. Along with teaching positions at The Ohio State University, Ashland University, Edward Waters College and Delaware State University, Mr. Randolph was also selected as Kiplinger Journalism Fellow at Ohio State where he received his Master's degree. MAJR spent more than a quarter century in journalism primarily public radio as a news director, anchor, reporter and station general manager. Randolph helped in the development of The Tavis Smiley Show for National Public Radio. Working with a team of public radio general managers and programmers, in conjunction with the African American Public Radio Consortium, in conceiving and implementing the program. This show was aired nationally on over 100 public radio stations. He has received awards from Ohio Educational Broadcasting, The National Association of Black Journalists the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists. He has also been recognized with a Resolution of Special Recognition from the Ohio House of Representatives for outstanding reporting in the areas of public affairs and the arts. MAJR was a producer of the 2016 documentary " The Essential Eastern: A History of Eastern Kentucky University" for Kentucky Educational Television (KET)

Prior to his career in broadcasting this avid NY Yankee fan was a paramedic with NYC-EMS. He was awarded a NYC Vice Presidential Citation and received numerous Letters of Commendation from the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation for outstanding service to the public as a paramedic.
