Poynter has partnered with the filmmaker to take this feature length film into your classroom. We will provide you a Teacher's Guide written by Poynter. This lesson is all about critical thinking and how to teach students to ask questions about what they see and hear in the media. Make no mistake, you may not agree with all you see in this film. That is in fact, good.
MERCHANTS OF DOUBT takes audiences on a satirically comedic, yet illuminating ride into the heart of conjuring American spin. Filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the curtain on a secretive group of highly charismatic, silver- tongued pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific authorities – yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change.
The film runs about 1.5 hours. We will have 10 FREE access passes for educators to be able to use the film free of charge in their teaching.
