Claire Regan

Wagner College
Assistant professor of journalism
New York City
I'm AME at the Staten Island Advance, a daily Newhouse newspaper in New York City's greenest borough, where I coach editors and reporters and run the college internship program (19 this summer!). I teach two undergraduate courses a semester at Wagner College and I'm faculty adviser to the student newspaper, negotiating the slippery slope between freedom of the press and the expectations of a private school administration. I'm passionate about bringing what I do in the newsroom each day into the classroom at night, and I appreciate being inspired and challenged by my students. Looking out my office window into the newsroom, it's rewarding to see many former students and interns who have become my colleagues.
